What is Japanese Calligraphy?
Originated in China and holding 4000 years of history, Japanese calligraphy remains a traditional part of Japanese culture and is a well-respected art form within Japan. Although calligraphy is taught at school, people do not use it in their daily lives very often. For this reason, it appears to have become a lost art in today’s world.
Let’s give it a try and learn about the beauty of subtlety through calligraphy!

What you’ll do
✓ In this workshop, you will be taught how to use a calligraphy pen (brush) and ink to write Kanji (Chinese characters) and Katakana (Japanese characters) the artistic way.
✓ While you are writing, you will learn how to read the characters as well as their meaning. As you are concentrating on the writing, you will realize that even the smallest brush stroke in one part of the character matters.
✓ The writings can be taken home as a souvenir.
